On September12, a scientific conference devoted to next anniversary of the liberation of Baku by Caucasus Islamic Army from bolshevic-armenian military units was held in the Goychay District Executive Power office.

The conference took place with an organization of the Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan and Public Association of Turkish Universities’ Alumnus. Firstly the attendees made a pilgrimage in the city center the monument to great leader H.Aliyev, the memorial of genocide victims, Martyrs’ Alley and the graves of the martyr turkish soldiers in the village of Bighir. Speaking at the event, Melda Araz, the adviser of the Ambassador of the Turkey to our country on cultural issues, Chingiz Bayramov, the chairman of the Public Association of Turkish Universities’ Alumnus, Mansur Mammadov, the Head of Goychay District Executive Power, Nasiman Yagublu, reader of the Baku State University,told about historic aspects of the fighting against Russian-armenian occupants, conducting on july-august of 1918 in the territory of Goychay by Caucasus Islamic Army under the command of Nuru Pasha, about joint bravery of our fraternal peoples on the way of the drawing of enemies from our lands, about especial place of these fights in the histoty if Azerbaijan. Speaking about attending Azerbaijan of the Caucasus Islamic Army with liberation mission when on late previous century the Armenians exposed the azeris to genocide with the dream of the creation of “Great Armenia” and the liberation of Baku on September 15, the participants stressed that about 1200 turkish soldiers fall martyrs in the fights in Goychay, Shemakhy, Kurdamir, Aghsu, Bilajari and Baku, that the graves of only 17 of them are known. It was noted that the graves of the hero turkish soldiers in the villages of Byghyr, Muskurlu, Garamaryam of Goychay district were saved by our people as holy monument and delivered to nowadays. Speakers hopefully strseed that the Azerbaijan-Turkey friendship, brotherhood would last forever. Then the film “Truth” prepared by the Baku representative of TRT channel of Turkey was demonstrated. After the conference came to an end there was held a celebratory concert in front of the Goychay Historical-Ethnography Museum featuring well-known masters of art of Azerbaijan.
